Sausage & Gravy Breakfast Pizza

You may have heard of Margherita, Hawaiian, and buffalo, but have you heard of a sausage and gravy breakfast pizza? This fun breakfast dish made from slow-cooking sausages—using the drippings to make a gravy—is a full, cheesy meal in every bite.

One way to elevate the dish is to use fresh dough. Though it is common to use a premade canned croissant or bread dough, using fresh dough creates a really crispy and fluffy crust that is perfect for absorbing the gravy and cheese.

One key component to note is to keep an eye on the thickness of the gravy. This recipe looks for a really nice and thick gravy, almost on the pasty end. This is because as the sausages bake in the oven, the oils will thin out the gravy.

What You Need to Make Sausage and Gravy Breakfast Pizza

The ingredients in this recipe are really accessible and easy to find. Breakfast sausages can be swapped for plant-based alternatives if you are looking for a vegetarian or just a low-calorie option.

Make the Gravy: Once the sausages are golden brown, add the flour, butter, salt, pepper, and mix until a gravy forms. If it is too dry, add more butter. When a thick gravy forms, remove it from heat.
